This Farmall 1066, (serial number 2610159U017896), may well be
the best looking 1066 in the country. It turns out that the 1066
was one of the most popular tractors ever built and now has proven
itself to be one of the best ever built. This I.H. custom cab has
been reconditioned with new padding and new paint. All rust was
removed or the rusty metal was cut out with new steel mig welded in
place. All replacement fasteners are stainless steel. The chassis
consumed three gallons of the Case IH Iron Guard red acrylic
enamel. The sheet metal took additional paint. Two hundred
thirty-nine hours have been spent on the reconditioning. This old
beauty used the IH 417 cu. Inch engine rated at 125 HP from the
factory. She is sitting on new radial 20.8 x 38 rears. The tractor
is a real pleasure to drive. The tractor sold for $12,000 in 1973.
The present owner has considerably more than invested in this one.
This 1066 is the 19th tractor we have restored. I hired an expert
painter-reconditioner on this one. My previous ones were done by me
with some help from my wife. We still have 15 of the 19 gorgeous
red tractors.
